LAYLOW INVITE
Bespoke event invitation design
Client: Laylow
Event: Closing party hosted by 4 of their previous hosts
Brief - to create a bespoke fun illustration to invite people to a final hurrah at laylow before the club closes. They wanted it to be slightly ‘flirty’ and slightly christmassy, but not too much ...
My Solution - to illustrate the four friends sitting in one of Laylows Iconic booths. Using a colour palette that pulls out the key booth colour (velvet pink) and giving them all subtly festive outfits. Avoiding traditional Christmas palette was a purposeful choice and was effective in ensuring that the event feels festive but retains a modern, glamerous tone.
I wanted to go for block colour background to make the booth pop, but loved the subtly texture that the darker red lines provided in making it obvious where the scene is. Clean and crisp!
PIERRE
Supporting Character Creation
Maggie was an illustration first commissioned to bring to life the face and brand image for a new night in London: Maggie May Ldn.
Now ready to add a new character to the mix, the event organisers wanted a male character to add depth to the mix. They wanted Pierre to be Maggie’s sub. The vibe was ‘the morning after the night before’. They also wanted Pierre to be more ‘Dog Like’ but in the end we landed on the more human presenting Pierre as this version told the desired story better.
MAGGIE MAY
Brand Character Creation
Maggie was an illustration commission to bring to life the face and brand image for a new night in London: Maggie May Ldn.
The event organisers wanted an enticing Madam-like character to be the emblem of their exciting new event. Based off a beloved Weimaraner, Maggie was to have big wide eyes, love struck look - the night was a singles event - oozing confidence and sensuality.
RED BULL: SAVE YOUR GAME
Illustration & social asset creation
Client: Redbull
Brief - to illustrate weekly assets across 4 different podcast promotion platforms for Red-bulls gaming podcast, Save Your Game. They wanted realistic graphic style illustrations.
Action - Each week I would receive the episode and the image of the professional gamer and illustrate them on Illustrator and photoshop, pulling the designs across multiple artwork sizes and deliveries.
Redbull were very pleased with the assets and my designs contributed to them pitching us for future shows.
SPOTIFY: PARTNERS IN CRIME
Designer & illustrator, Senior Creative Lead at Mags Creative
Client: Spotify
Brief - to create bespoke illustrations and social assets for Spotify’s hit show Partners in Crime
Challenge - to develop an illustration style that can sumerise an episode, entice listeners and fit the tone of the show: comedy and crime.
My response - I thoroughly enjoyed distilling each episode into one core image. I opted for a simple black and white hand drawn graphic effect to create characterful weekly images.
The result - these assets were a major part of the promotional plan for the show. Without the social assets and social push we would not have reached the 1 million download mark in the first series.
